Our school is in an informal settlement in Mamelodi East and many of our parents have lost their jobs as a result of the Pandemic. The situation was already dire and our learners made vulnerable by poverty and inequality, but the need has increased significantly in the past 18 months. Many of our children are from households that cannot afford school uniform and we find learners wearing shirts and trousers that are too small, or old and faded. We want to give them the dignity of proper uniform.
