Help Lesedi la Batho with 10 volunteers for Hosting Virtual Fitness Classes for #GBV Fundraiser
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Calling all inspiring female fitness instructors! We at Lesedi la Batho feel strongly called to respond to the alarming rates of GBV and unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic. As an experienced, trusted and established NGO with a broad reach in the Mabopane community, we believe we can make a substantial impact - but we need YOUR help! We've just launched a new women empowerment program to scale our services supporting women to become financially independent and in charge of her own decisions - the first step to a new life. Ikemele, meaning "to rise up", is a 3-month program offering skills training, practical help & psycho-social support - followed by assistance finding a job or starting a small business. We invite individuals and corporates to sponsor a woman's program, or contribute to her sponsorship. For more information, please visit the program's dedicated web page here: www.lesedilabatho.co.za/womenempowerment To raise awareness (and hopefully funds!), we are planning a 16 Days of ACTIVE-ism Against GBV event during the annual international awareness campaign. We plan to host a series of virtual fitness classes volunteered by inspiring female figures from around the world - they will be free to join with the option to make a donation. ALL types of fitness classes welcome! We ask that you share the event on your platforms and encourage your friends and family to participate - and we will encourage our followers to follow YOU! We can't wait to meet you! "Economic equity is an enormous empowerment of women. Women with income take themselves more seriously and they are taken more seriously." - Betty Friedan, writer & activist #EndGBV #SayNoToGBV #RisingWomenUp #WomenEmpowerment
Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
