Zimbabwe is facing significant challenges with many children unable to attend school due to lack of financial resources. In the past this has been a problem that affected mostly in the rural areas where families struggle to meet basic needs; however, recently there has been a rise of poverty in urban areas resulting in children out of school. As a result, this can have long term consequences for their future prospects. This is evidenced by the fact that out of school children end participating in activities that can destroy their future like drug and substance abuse, child marriages and teenage pregnancies etc. Problem statement Due to high cost of living and rising inflation in Zimbabwe, families are finding it difficult to cater for basic necessities including school fees and this has increased the number of out of school children. It has been discovered that there is a huge number of children who are out of school due to different factors. Thus through the survey that was done, many children are out of school because of financial constraints. Most families are child headed because of death of parents or have gone out of the country in search of greener pastures but are still struggling to cater for their families, some living with disabilities or with parents /guardian with disabilities and many living with old aged unemployed grandparents and this has also resulted in the rise of out school children. This is contributing to the increase of unwanted behaviors in communities such as drug and substance abuse, teenage pregnancies etc. Thus in order to reduce these unwanted behaviors that are associated with young children loitering around without going to school, CCN seeks to raise funds to finance out of school children through payment of school fees so that they can have access to quality education. The organization seeks to empower and reduce unhealthy and unwanted behaviors among children and young people through education.
