Non verbal Autistic child with agressive behaviour helped by horse riding therapy
*Thato* is a 14 year old non-verbal Autistic child who displayed aggressive behaviour, even punching his Teacher in the face. He carried a fairy wand with him wherever he went and would not put it down or relinquish it to anyone. Horse Riding therapy completely changed Thato’s behaviour ; Once he was on the horse and moving, he calmed down immediately. By the 2nd therapy session he willingly gave his wand to the Instructor before mounting and gently took it back from her afterwards. The Teachers were amazed at the improvement in his behaviour on his riding therapy day! His parents were so amazed by the teachers’ report of Thato’s change, that they came along to a lesson to witness this new Thato. Their amazement and joy as Thato calmly came riding past them, and even laughing out loud during a trot. * The name has been changed…..
