NID-National Institute for the Deaf

Founded in 1881, the National Institute for the Deaf is a registered Non-Profit Company with NPO and PBO status. We have been dedicated to the well-being of the Deaf community for well over a century. Our head office is situated in Worcester, Western Cape, but we deliver deaf-accessible services to both Deaf and hearing communities throughout South Africa. NID’s vision is the holistic development of the full potential of persons with hearing loss in South Africa by rendering essential quality services to them. Our mission is to empower individuals with hearing loss to reach their full potential by providing training, care, and multi-disciplinary support services that promote economic independence, human dignity, and self-realisation.
