BUILD FOR MADIBA: The Lifelong Legacy Project Campaign Dates: 14 – 18 July 2025 _______________________________________ Campaign Overview In honour of Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy and to commemorate 30 years of South African democracy, Habitat for Humanity South Africa (HFHSA) proudly presents the 2025 Build for Madiba – The Lifelong Legacy Project. This bold initiative is more than a Mandela Day event — it is a national call to action. It invites individuals, corporates, and communities to come together to build lasting impact through shelter, dignity, and unity. Nelson Mandela Build Week: 14–18 July 2025 During this special week, HFHSA will construct 11 homes for vulnerable families across three provinces: • 🏠 Gauteng (Orange Farm) – 4 homes • 🏠 Eastern Cape (Joe Slovo, Gqeberha) – 2 homes • 🏠 Western Cape (Khayelitsha) – 5 homes These builds reflect our commitment to providing safe, decent housing to families in need, while honouring Mandela’s vision of equality, community, and compassion. The Lifelong Legacy Project In celebration of South Africa’s 30 years of democracy, HFHSA launched the Lifelong Legacy Project — a long-term commitment to build: • 670 houses • 1 social amenity Every year, in perpetuity, as part of the Nelson Mandela Build initiative. Together, we can help restore dignity and hope for generations to come. Join us as we build not just houses, but a better future for all South Africans. _______________________________________ Why This Matters “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” — Nelson Mandela The Build for Madiba campaign is our response to Madiba’s timeless call for active citizenship, compassion, and justice. It’s more than a housing project — it’s a national movement to uplift those most in need, to restore dignity, and to spark lasting hope in communities that have long been left behind. Shelter is the foundation for everything else. Without a safe, decent home, access to education, health, safety, and economic opportunity becomes a daily struggle. By building homes, we are building futures. This campaign is about: • Reducing housing poverty • Promoting active volunteerism • Creating connection and solidarity among South Africans from all walks of life Together, we can honour Mandela’s legacy not just in words, but in action — by ensuring every family has a place to call home. _______________________________________ Get Involved: Packages & Participation Whether you’re a corporate, school, NGO, or individual — there’s a role for you in building Madiba’s legacy.
