Tech Explorers: Unemployed Youth Web Development Programme Context & Problem Youth unemployment in South Africa is over 63%, with millions unable to access training or employment opportunities. At the same time, there’s a massive global demand for tech skills, with a projected shortfall of 85 million IT professionals by 2030. Many young people are eager to learn, but lack access to devices, training, and market knowledge. Our Solution The Tech Explorers Web Development & Freelancing Programme trains unemployed youth (ages 18–35) to develop high-demand tech and digital freelancing skills. Designed for offline and low-data environments, the programme is inclusive, practical, and income-focused. Core Modules Include: Website Development/ Data Analysis / Digital Marketing Digital Marketing Graphic Design 1, 2 and 3 UX Design Freelancing AI for Productivity and Creativity Real-World Results Youth have built over 80 functioning websites Completed more than 300 digital courses Some now earn income through freelance platforms The programme fosters job creation, entrepreneurship, and resilience, preparing youth for both employment and self-employment in the digital economy.
