Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Zonnebloem Secondary School is a historic institution situated in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa. Despite its rich legacy, the school today faces immense challenges typical of many disadvantaged schools in the country. With limited funding and infrastructure, Zonnebloem struggles to meet the basic needs of its learners, many of whom come from under-resourced communities marked by poverty, violence, and systemic inequality. The school’s aging facilities and lack of educational resources hinder students' ability to thrive academically and personally. The school is currently in dire need of essential learning and classroom materials, including textbooks, paint, and light bulbs. Many classrooms are dimly lit or completely without lighting, making it difficult for learners to concentrate and engage in lessons, especially during winter months. Walls are deteriorating, with faded and chipped paint that creates a demotivating learning environment. Furthermore, there is a severe shortage of textbooks, forcing learners to share or go without, which compromises the quality of education. These conditions not only limit learning but also negatively impact learners' self-esteem and sense of dignity. Justice Desk Africa has partnered with Zonnebloem Secondary School through its Youth Ambassador Program, which empowers young leaders to be agents of change within their schools and communities. We are working on behalf of the school because we recognize the immense potential of its learners and are committed to ensuring they receive a safe, inspiring, and resource-rich environment. By advocating for basic needs like textbooks, classroom lighting, and refurbishment, we aim to restore dignity to the school community and enable learners to reach their full potential. Our intervention is not just about physical resources it is about investing in a future where every child has an equal opportunity to learn and lead.
