Siyakwazi’s “Look Closer. Support Earlier.” campaign will run throughout Disability Rights Awareness Month, a reminder that not all disabilities are visible. Through awareness, screening, and early identification, we can notice and respond to the first signs of developmental delay, giving every child the chance to thrive. This year, Siyakwazi screened over 2,000 children and identified 651 who need extra support. Through our School Readiness Programme, these learners receive weekly “catch-up” lessons that strengthen the building blocks for learning. The total annual cost of the programme is R811,000, or R1,250 per child per year, covering school visits, learning resources, extra lessons, transport, and support for teachers.
