Offer description
Shirl Hawes – Compassionate All-Rounder Committed to Serving the Community Profile Summary I am Shirley Hawes, a 62-year-old semi-retired individual with a broad range of skills and a heartfelt dedication to giving back. While awaiting new work opportunities, I am eager to devote my time and energy to supporting charitable organizations and making a positive impact in the community. Life has been a profound teacher, guiding me on a journey of self-cultivation and holistic living. I am passionate about gardening and herbalism, growing my own healing herbs as part of a natural lifestyle that reflects my belief in alternative wellness beyond conventional medicine. I bring a diverse background across various sectors, enabling me to offer valuable support in administration, coordination, and community engagement to NGOs, children’s homes, retirement villages, and other organizations focused on care and upliftment. My volunteer experience includes meaningful contributions to the SPCA and Hospice charity shops and libraries, where I helped restructure operations, coordinate activities, and create welcoming, beautiful environments for staff and visitors. At the Strathyre Girls Home, I provided homework assistance, organized arts and cultural activities, and choreographed performances to help raise funds. I also cultivated a herb garden as part of my holistic approach to wellbeing. I am deeply committed to serving those in need, having prepared and served large meals for the homeless, feeding up to 150 people at a time. Recently, I donated my cooking utensils to the Johannesburg Children’s Home as I transition to a smaller living space. Throughout my life, I have nurtured a love for the arts as a professional artist and dance instructor. I have always facilitated a women’s circle dedicated to supporting women who have experienced abuse, hardship, or life transitions such as divorce. Although the pandemic temporarily paused these gatherings, I am determined to reopen and revitalize the circle soon, providing a safe and empowering space for women to heal and connect. I am passionate about using my free time to support charitable causes, share my diverse skills, and continue growing personally while serving others.
Individual's background
I am a 62-year-old woman, currently semi-retired and looking forward to new opportunities as I await upcoming contracts. With my free time, I aim to contribute positively to the community. I have extensive experience in both the office and business sectors, and I am a qualified bookkeeper. I can offer valuable administrative support to NGOs, children's homes, and retirement villages. Throughout my life, I have pursued my passion for the arts as a professional artist and dance instructor. I previously led a women's circle where we shared our experiences and supported one another, but unfortunately, this was disrupted by COVID-19. Since then, I have not revived my women's circle nor dance studio. I did dedicated my time to volunteering at the Strathyre Girls Home, where I provided homework assistance, organized arts activities, and choreographed performances for year-end functions to help raise funds. Additionally, I created a herb garden and engaged in various other projects. I have also prepared large meals for the homeless several times a year, serving around 100 to 150 people each time. Recently, I donated my cooking utensils to the Johannesburg Children’s Home as I am relocating to a smaller apartment. I am eager to make good use of my free time while waiting for my next contract and give back to the community in meaningful ways.
