How can you help?

Help Africa Matters Initiative with 10 volunteers for HR Policy Reviewer & Advisor

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

We are seeking a volunteer with experience in Human Resources across Africa, organisational development, or employment law to support the review, update, and development of key organizational policies related to wellbeing, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and safeguarding. As our organization continues to grow and deepen its work with young people, partners, and volunteers across diverse contexts, we are committed to ensuring our internal policies reflect our values, protect our community, and align with best practice in the social impact sector. This short-term, project-based opportunity is ideal for a professional with experience in HR, people and culture, safeguarding, DEI, or organizational development who is interested in contributing their expertise to a mission-driven organization. The volunteer will work closely with AMI’s leadership team to review existing policies, identify gaps or areas for strengthening, and support the drafting or updating of clear, practical policies focused on staff and volunteer wellbeing, inclusion and equity, and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable populations. The emphasis will be on creating policies that are values-led, culturally sensitive, and realistic for a small, distributed team operating across multiple countries. Ideal candidates have experience developing or reviewing organizational policies, particularly in nonprofit, social impact, or international contexts. Strong writing skills, sound judgment, and an understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practices are essential. Familiarity with youth-focused or community-based organizations is an advantage but not required. This opportunity requires a commitment of approximately 2–5 hours per week over 2–4 weeks and can be completed remotely. Final policy drafts will be shared with AMI for internal adoption and implementation.
