Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Volunteer With Us During the School Holidays As we do every year, we will once again be running our soup kitchen programme throughout the school holidays. During this time, we provide meals to approximately 2,500 children, as well as adults and people experiencing homelessness, who rely on the support of our community. The programme runs from 21 June to 20 July, and we are looking for volunteers to assist with cooking, serving, and distributing food. We are also always in need of support through donations, particularly bread, vegetables, and fruit, as fundraising remains one of our biggest challenges. Unfortunately, as a non-profit organisation, we are unable to cover volunteers' transport, accommodation, or meals. These costs are for your own account. The Miracle is approximately three hours from Johannesburg, but once you have spent time with us, you will become part of our family. The communities we serve are among the poorest in the country. Many families live in informal settlements without access to basic services such as running water and electricity. Every donation of clothing, bedding, food, and other essentials makes a meaningful difference, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of those who support our work. If you have a few days to spare and would like to make a real difference, we invite you to join us. This is an opportunity to give back, to learn, and to experience the power of community and compassion firsthand. It is something that will stay with you for life. Families are welcome, and if your children need to complete community service hours, we can provide the necessary sign-off as a registered non-profit organisation. While there is a cost involved for volunteers in terms of their own travel, accommodation, and meals, the rewards are immeasurable. This is an experience that uplifts not only those we serve but also those who come to help. Many of our volunteers return year after year because of the lasting impact it has on their lives. Most importantly, this programme operates every school holiday to ensure that no child goes hungry when schools close. For many children, the meal they receive from our soup kitchen is their only hot meal of the day. Together, we can make sure that no child is left behind. If you would like to volunteer, donate, or learn more, please get in touch. We would love to welcome you into our Marico family.
