Help Thula Baba Project with 50 volunteers for mothers and babies in the Cape Flats (Mandela Day)
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Last year, over 100 hours of generous support helped us make a powerful impact on Mandela Day. This year, our ambition is even bigger: we’re aiming to create enough essential stock to support mothers and babies all year long! Volunteer on Mandela Day: Friday 18th of July 11.00-21.00 @ Christ Church Constantia Here’s what we hope to make together: 🧴 2,500 decanted toiletries 🧼 2,500 face cloths 👝 2,500 complete toiletry packs 🧶 250 hand-knitted or crocheted blankets 👶 250 soft wraps for newborns 🧵 2,500 sewn blankets With your help, we can equip hundreds of vulnerable mothers and babies: not just for one day, but for the months to come. https://www.quicket.co.za/events/318918-mandela-day-workshop/?ref=events-list#/
Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
