Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Mandela Day Call to Action with SRDL This Mandela Day, join SRDL in celebrating young voices that matter! We are a nonprofit organisation helping children from underprivileged communities develop strong reading and writing skills. Through our Mabali Champs project, 10 of our learners have become published authors — telling real stories in their own voices. Now, we’re calling on YOU to help us show them their words are powerful. Here’s how you can support: 1. Pick one of our learner-created stories 2. Record yourself reading it aloud 3. Post the video on social media 4. Tag us: TikTok:@srdl\_tv Facebook: @srdl\@july2012 5. Use these hashtags: #AmabaliChamps #ReadForChange #MandelaDay #SunsetPaws srdl Your voice could inspire a child to keep writing, keep dreaming, and know they are seen. Volunteer. Read. Celebrate. Inspire.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
