Help The Sweethearts Foundation with 30 volunteers for recycling tops and tags for wheelchairs
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Give the Gift of a Wheelchair! We’re on a mission to turn everyday trash into mobility treasures – and we need your help! Every wheelchair is made possible by recycling: • 1,750 kg of plastic bottle tops – the weight of a young elephant! 🐘 • 350 kg of bread tags – about the same as a fully grown cheetah! 🐆 It takes thousands of small items to make one BIG difference. What to Collect: • Plastic bottle tops with recycling codes #2, #5 or #7 (look for the number on the underside). • If you can drink the product, you can usually keep the lid! – This may exclude peanut butter, mayonnaise or detergent lids. • No metal lids, caps, or glass bottles. • Make sure all items are clean and dry. 📍 Where to Drop Off: We’ve got 100+ collection points nationwide! Use this map to find the one nearest to you: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1BTslunOGMavGjmZuFxHKx5ZlXJI&ll=-30.26828285885855%2C28.961695343444703&z=5 Always contact your chosen point first to confirm the address and drop-off times. Click Volunteer and let us know where you're located. If there’s no collection point near you, you can become one and help others donate too!
Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
