Main house on the historical site

Liliesleaf, once the nerve centre of the liberation movement and a place of refuge for its leaders is today one of South Africa’s heritage sites where the road to democracy is observed and honoured. The site takes visitors on a journey to learn more and to pay tribute to the unique group of liberation leaders who fought for the transformation of South Africa’s political landscape.

Liliesleaf was opened to the public in June 2008 and has since attracted thousands of local and international visitors. Through its educational tours, the museum appeals to younger audiences and encourages them to face challenges with creative enthusiasm.

Take a tour of Liliesleaf then grab lunch at its restaurant, Cedric’s Café, which was the farm’s code name when liberation leaders used it as an underground venue for meetings.
