Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Mandela Day 2024 #ACTIONAGAINSTPOVERTY Mandela Day is a celebration of our collective power to create a global movement for good and make a positive impact on the world. We believe education should be accessible to everyone - and we are on a mission to remove all barriers to learning. Masicorp aims to support 130 children from Masiphumelele with the gift of a fully stocked pencil case. These little ones will be headed off to Grade 1 in January 2024, but many of them cannot afford essential school supplies. For many children living in Masi, their parents are unemployed and are living below the poverty line. A useful gift of a pencil case is one less things these parents have to worry about – and will keep these children learning. How can you help? Sign up to spend your 67 minutes of Mandela Day sewing a pencil case for a child. All materials and instruction will be provided. Simply bring yourself to the Masicorp Campus on Tuesday 18 July between noon and 4pm. Sign Up to Join Mandela Day - Masicorp

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
