JA South Africa is inviting volunteers to virtually mentor and coach the graduates of our Youth Enterprise Development Programme who are currently running their own businesses.

The young entrepreneurs are running registered micro enterprises and require support to sustain and grow their businesses in the following areas:
- recordkeeping and financial management
- digital marketing
- access to funding
- access to markets, including corporates

Orientation and introduction to the entrepreneurs will be facilitated by JA South Africa. Volunteer mentor and mentee schedule sessions at their convenience. The recommended minimum engagement is once a month over 3 months.

The Interview Readiness Program

We seek members of the tech community to take part in a series of simulated technical interviews to help students prepare for their first job interview. As an interviewer, you'll contribute to equipping our students with improved communication and self-reflection skills that will help them to present themselves with confidence in an actual interview.

We plan to run our mock interview series once a month on a Saturday morning or weekday afternoon throughout our academic year, where volunteers can sign up to participate in one or multiple sessions. A typical Saturday session runs for two to four hours in the morning while the weekday afternoon session runs for two hours.

Volunteers for this program are experienced members of the software development community with experience in hiring and being involved in technical recruiting, a plus.

We've redesigned the mentorship program to be an active part of the second-year curriculum and a vital cog of the WeThinkCode_ pedagogy.

We are looking for experienced software development practitioners who can guide a group of four to six students over a six month period starting in September this year and ending at the end of February next year. As a volunteer, this requires a commitment of a minimum of one hour every two weeks. Think of the group as a typical software development team and yourself as a team lead that guides agile processes, software programming, design, and team collaboration.

We think this program will suit the professional that enjoys coaching and helping young teams grapple with programming problems. From our side, we will support you with the tools, context and connecting with other mentors in an opt-in monthly coaching circle.
