Help Lesedi la Batho with 15 volunteers for sharing a fundraising campaign to support #GBV efforts
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
We at Lesedi la Batho feel strongly called to respond to the alarming rates of GBV and unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic. As an experienced, trusted and established NGO with a broad reach in the Mabopane community, we believe we can make a substantial impact - but we need YOUR help! Our new women empowerment program, Ikemele (meaning "to rise up") scales our services supporting women to become dignified, financially independent and in charge of their own decisions - the first step to a new life. During a 3-month program, they will receive one-on-one and group counselling, skills training and practical support - followed by assistance finding a job or starting a small business. We invite individuals and corporates to sponsor a woman's program (R4500) or contribute towards it with smaller amounts. If you are passionate about joining the fight against #GBV and supporting women empowerment, please help us raise awareness for this initiative by sharing it with your friends, family and colleagues via social media, email, word-of-mouth - however you can! Respond to this need to connect with our marketing & fundraising manager, Mary, who can provide you with marketing material and support you in your awareness campaign. We can't wait to meet you! "Economic equity is an enormous empowerment of women. Women with income take themselves more seriously and they are taken more seriously." - Betty Friedan, writer & activist #EndGBV #SayNoToGBV #RisingWomenUp #WomenEmpowerment
Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
