Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
About Us: Sivulingqondo Community Project & ECD is registered NPO 247-134, run by women from Ikhwezi Park, Ward 18 Khayelitsha. We serve 60+ children daily + 200+ families. We have no hall, no fence, no budget - just heart + volunteers. The Problem: Ikhwezi Park is open space but full of rubbish. Children have no books or safe reading space. Elders sit alone. Youth have no role models except gangsters. Mandela Day is 67 minutes, but our community needs 67 minutes x 365 days. Why Mandela Day: 18 July is not just cleaning. It’s teaching children “Ubuntu - I am because we are”. It’s showing youth that Mandela went from Robben Island prisoner to President. If he could change, our children can too. Transparency: R2,500 covers: Marquee tent R800 + 100L pot R400 + Artificial grass carpet R600 + African décor + plates/cups R700. Every cent will be photographed + receipted. You’ll see where your money goes. 2. IMPACT OF THIS CAMPAIGN: Immediate Impact - 18 July 2026: 1. Clean Space: 1 park cleaned = 200 families get safe space for children to play and healthy space for meetings. 2. Reading: 20 books donated + reading session = 60 children learn “books open doors” 3.Youth Inspired: Drama of Mandela in prison = 15 youth see that struggle → leadership is possibility. 4.Community Fed: 100L soup + bread = Elders + children + youth eat together. No one is left out Long-term Impact - After 18 July: 1. Behavior Change: Children who clean once, don’t litter again. We create “Park Champions” from youth volunteers. 2. Reading Culture:20 books become our first “Street Library”. We rotate books weekly at the centre. 3.Youth Pipeline: Drama actors become our NHC peer heritage educators. Today Mandela, tomorrow health messages. 4. Donor Confidence: Photos + report after event = proof for bigger donors. This R2,500 opens doors to R50,000 grants. The Mandela Quote becomes real: _“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” 18 July proves to Ikhwezi Park: We CAN clean our own space. We CAN read. We CAN remember Mandela by acting like him.
