Help Smartphone Free Childhood South Africa (SFC-SA) raise R150000 for the children of South Africa
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
SFC-SA is committed to promoting healthier childhoods by delaying smartphone use and encouraging real-time play and connection. Our mission is urgent – and we need your support. The Growing Crisis: As screen time among children skyrockets, the consequences on their mental health have become alarming. Research has shown that excessive use of smart devices and social media can lead to anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and increased rates of self-harm, not excluding the horrific threat from predators. In fact, studies have linked excessive screen time to a 50% increase in the likelihood of depression and anxiety in children/ teens (3 hours plus)! "When we give our children access to the whole world in their pocket, we give the whole world access to our children." (Dr. Jonathan Haidt) The Need for Immediate Action: We are seeking funding to extend our reach to more schools and more communities across South Africa, educating both children, their parents and schools about the dangers of unchecked screen time and the mental health and criminal risks that come with it. This is not just about limiting technology, but about empowering children to build resilience, engage in meaningful play, and develop the emotional strength needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
