Help Greendale House Palliative & Hospice Care (HospiceWits) with 30 volunteers for gardening in Soweto

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

We run two community garden sites in Diepkloof, Soweto. One is a small working garden, and the other, which is half a hectare needs to be prepared for planting. The food grown in the community garden supplies food parcels for patients and trains patient’s families in basic food production. We can host a gardening activity for the whole team of 50 or host smaller teams. There’s a range of gardening tasks that include weeding, composting, soil preparation, planting, and light maintenance. Here we ask partners to contribute the materials for the gardening activity such as seedlings, topsoil, gardening tools and so forth.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
