How can you help?
Prepare annual financial statements and conduct an independent review
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
We are seeking assistance with the preparation of our Annual Financial Statements and an independent review for the year ended 31 March 2026. This is a very small engagement. Our entire financial activity for the year consists of four transactions — R400 donated by two directors and R300 in bank charges. Our bank statements and supporting records are available. Our Public Interest Score is only 4, so an independent review is not ordinarily required. However, the National Lotteries Commission requires one for our purposes, despite the organisation having received no funding during the period. Our deadline for submission is 23 September 2026, and we are therefore urgently seeking assistance. We would like to enquire whether your Accounting/Auditing Department has a student practical-training, community-engagement or clinic programme through which our organisation could receive assistance, with the work appropriately supervised and reviewed by a qualified practitioner. Given the extremely limited volume of transactions, we believe this could provide students with a straightforward real-world NPO accounting and reporting experience while supporting a small community organisation. Could you please advise whether you can assist us or refer us to the appropriate person?

Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
