Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Empowering Youth Through Professional Marketing and Sales Development Help Thokoza Progressive Youth Build a Sustainable Marketing and Sales Department Every young person deserves an opportunity to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to succeed in the modern economy. Since its establishment in 2008, Thokoza Progressive Youth (TPY) has worked to transform the lives of young people from underprivileged communities in Ekurhuleni through education and training, digital skills development, entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation and economic empowerment initiatives. Over the years, TPY has created opportunities for young people to acquire industry-relevant skills through ICT training, professional development programmes, community outreach and enterprise development initiatives. However, equipping young people with technical knowledge is only part of the journey. To achieve lasting economic empowerment, young people must also understand how to communicate value, identify business opportunities, attract customers, build professional relationships and generate sustainable income. This is where we need your expertise. The Challenge We Want to Address Like many community-based non-profit organisations, TPY faces the challenge of developing sustainable income streams while continuing to deliver accessible education, training and community development programmes. Although TPY offers valuable training programmes and services, we recognise the need to strengthen our ability to market these opportunities, attract paying clients, secure business partnerships and manage sales activities professionally. We also recognise that many young people have limited access to practical sales training, experienced business mentors and structured opportunities to develop commercial skills. Without a well-established Marketing and Sales Department, opportunities for organisational growth, revenue generation and youth economic participation may remain unrealised. We believe that building this department is an important step towards strengthening TPY's long-term sustainability. Our Vision: Building a Department That Creates Opportunities Through this campaign, TPY aims to establish a professional, results-driven Marketing and Sales Department that will serve two interconnected purposes: 1. Strengthening organisational sustainability Developing effective marketing, customer acquisition, business development and sales management systems that enable TPY to promote its programmes, generate earned income and build lasting partnerships. 2. Empowering young people with practical business skills Creating a structured environment where young sales agents can receive professional training, practical mentorship and real-world experience in marketing, selling, customer relationship management and entrepreneurship. Our ambition is to develop a department that does more than sell services. We want to create a practical learning environment that develops capable young professionals while supporting TPY's broader community development mission. We Are Looking for Experienced Professionals Who Can Help Us Build This Vision We are calling upon five experienced professionals with expertise in sales, marketing, business development, digital marketing and customer relationship management to volunteer their knowledge and skills. We need individuals who can help us build systems, develop people and establish effective departmental processes. Volunteers will support TPY in the following areas: Marketing Strategy and Brand Development - Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with TPY's mission and programmes. - Improve organisational positioning, messaging and brand visibility. - Develop digital marketing and social media engagement strategies. - Establish practical marketing plans and campaign performance indicators. Sales Agent Training and Mentorship - Design a structured sales training curriculum. - Train young agents in prospecting, lead generation, customer engagement, negotiation and closing techniques. - Develop sales scripts, practical exercises and assessment tools. - Build confidence, professionalism, communication skills and ethical selling practices. - Mentor selected staff members to become effective sales team supervisors. Marketing and Sales Department Establishment - Develop a departmental structure with clearly defined responsibilities. - Introduce standard operating procedures and performance management systems. - Implement effective lead tracking, customer management and sales reporting. - Strengthen TPY's use of CRM to manage sales pipelines and business relationships. - Establish measurable targets, accountability systems and regular performance reviews. Business Development and Revenue Generation - Identify opportunities to market TPY's ICT training, professional development and enterprise services. - Develop approaches for engaging corporate clients, institutions and strategic partners. - Support the preparation of professional sales presentations and business proposals. - Create strategies that strengthen earned income and long-term organisational sustainability. What We Hope to Achieve To deliver eight key capacity-building outcomes: 1. A comprehensive organisational marketing strategy. 2. A clearly defined Marketing and Sales Department structure. 3. A practical sales agent training programme. 4. Documented marketing and sales standard operating procedures. 5. An operational customer relationship management system. 6. A sales performance dashboard with measurable indicators. 7. A business development and revenue generation strategy. 8. A mentorship, knowledge transfer and departmental sustainability plan. We also aim to train approximately 10–15 sales agents, subject to available resources and volunteer capacity. These outcomes will provide TPY with a foundation for continued departmental development beyond the initial volunteering period. The Impact of Your Contribution Your expertise could make a meaningful difference at several levels. For young people: It will provide access to practical commercial skills, professional mentorship and experience that can improve their employability, entrepreneurial confidence and economic participation. For TPY: It will strengthen our organisational capacity, improve how we communicate our services, establish professional sales systems and support the development of sustainable revenue streams. For the community: A stronger and more sustainable TPY will be better positioned to expand access to education, skills development and economic opportunities for underserved communities. For volunteers: This is an opportunity to apply professional knowledge towards meaningful social impact, mentor emerging talent and help build an organisational capability that can benefit future generations. Building a Legacy Beyond Volunteering Our goal is not to depend indefinitely on external expertise. We want our volunteers to help us develop internal capabilities, train future trainers and establish systems that TPY can operate independently. By transferring knowledge to our staff and young sales agents, volunteers will help create a sustainable foundation for continuous improvement, professional development and organisational growth. As TPY works towards its long-term vision of becoming a Community Multiversity by 2028, strengthening our marketing, sales and enterprise development capabilities will be an important part of achieving greater financial sustainability and community impact. Be Part of the Transformation We believe that access to expertise can be just as transformative as financial support. A skilled professional willing to share their knowledge can help an organisation improve its systems, empower its people and unlock opportunities that may otherwise remain beyond reach. We invite experienced sales managers, marketing executives, business development specialists, entrepreneurs, CRM professionals and corporate mentors to partner with Thokoza Progressive Youth. Whether you can contribute through strategic planning, practical training, mentorship or systems development, your skills can help us build something that lasts. Help us build the department. Help us train the agents. Help us create sustainable opportunities. Volunteer your expertise today and become part of Thokoza Progressive Youth's journey towards sustainable youth empowerment and economic transformation. Together, we can turn professional knowledge into lasting community impact.
