Help Lesedi la Batho raise R10,000 for airtime to provide remote support for survivors of GBV

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Domestic tension is high. Unemployment is on the rise. Emergency services are stretched. Call centres are overloaded. And strict stay-at-home measures have only made things worse for women and children living in close confines with an abuser during lockdown. Together, right now… we can offer hope, dignity, and the strength to go on for a woman fighting the war against increased gender based violence during lockdown. Lesedi la Batho is closely connected to cases of gender-based violence in Mabopane through our GBV support group. Typically, an experienced social worker facilitates a weekly support group gathering, which supports 30+ women with the psychosocial support they need to overcome their situation. We also offer free skills training courses, on-site day care facility, and job placement assistance to help survivors of GBV become purposeful, confident and independent. Due to restrictions on gatherings during the lockdown, our GBV support group cannot meet, but we can still support women experiencing increased violence at home with YOUR help. Please consider donating any amount towards airtime for a qualified social worker to check in weekly with women affected by increased home violence during the lockdown. With a total of R10 000, we can remotely support 30 women for the next 3 months, with a 30 minute phone call every week. #GBVrelief #NoExcuse
