Help Human Rights Screened Foundation raise R80,000 for GBV Victims - Basics of Film & TV Training Hard Costs

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Turn Victims into Victors We’re raising R80,000 to train 40 survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the Western Cape in the basics of filmmaking, life skills, and entrepreneurship over a 2-month period. This group includes: • 15 women living in shelters • 15 homeless survivors of GBV • 10 female parolees who were incarcerated for defending themselves against abuse — victims twice over, first of violence, then of a system that punished their survival This programme, we will equip them to transform pain into purpose. What Your Donation Will Fund: • Stipends for all 40 trainees • Laptops, stationery, and training materials • Transport costs so trainees can safely travel to the venue • Overhead and venue costs to provide a supportive training space All tutors will provide their services pro bono, out of shared commitment to justice and healing. Why This Matters We believe economic vulnerability fuels GBV. When people — especially women — lack income and options, they remain in harmful environments. But with training, counselling, and opportunity, victims become victors. This programme is not just about skills — it's about dignity, confidence, and long-term employment. Graduates will: • Join our “Universal Hand Signal for Help” campaign launching in October 2025 • Be added to a film crew database to access jobs with local and international film productions in South Africa 💜 Our campaign theme is “Once Upon a Time...” because everyone deserves a happily ever after. Help us rewrite their stories — and give them the tools to write their own.
