We at Lesedi la Batho feel strongly called to respond to the alarming rates of GBV and unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic. As an experienced, trusted and established NGO with a broad reach in the Mabopane community, we believe we can make a substantial impact - but we need YOUR help! Our new women empowerment program, Ikemele (meaning "to rise up") scales our services supporting women to become dignified, financially independent and in charge of their own decisions - the first step to a new life. During a 3-month program, they will receive one-on-one and group counselling, skills training and practical support - followed by assistance finding a job or starting a small business. We invite individuals and corporates to sponsor a woman's program, or contribute to her sponsorship. The total sponsorship fee is R4500 per woman and we aim to welcome 10 women per quarter. This includes compensation for our qualified social worker, food parcels, transport fare to get to counselling and classes, a contribution to seed fund small businesses, and a dignity pack upon graduating.
