Father A Nation is a non-profit company whose mission is to restore, equip and inspire men to be great fathers, role models and mentors who use their strength to love, serve, protect and provide and to stand against any form of abuse.

We believe that there is no greater nation building imperative for South Africa than the restoration of men and fathers. 

True masculinity is a great gift to humanity, yet South Africa is experiencing an epidemic of destructive masculinity. We have amongst the highest rates of rape, gender-based violence (GBV), corruption and murder in the world. Unless we deal decisively with this our future and the future of our children is in very real danger.

The research is clear - fatherlessness is the biggest driver of violent crime globally and the greatest predictor of social pathology in children. The most reliable predictor for gang activity and youth violence is neither social class nor race or education but fatherlessness. 

By failing to father our children we have unwittingly been growing an army of sociopaths – men who are capable of violent crime, rape and even torture without conscience, men who abuse their power to get whatever they want. This is not something that will self-correct. Wounded men raise wounded boys who become wounded men who wound. We must intervene decisively, strategically and emphatically to break the cycle. If we can inspire enough men to take their responsibilities seriously and use their strength well, we will turn the tide against crime, violence, abuse, corruption and social disintegration. We will build a nation that is safe, secure and prosperous for all who live in it.

Father A Nation (FAN) has been restoring and equipping men and boys since 2013. We run high impact interventions for men and boys. Our Champions for Change programme for men trains, equips, inspires and networks men to make an impact on their families, communities and the nation. There are several high impact interventions including:
- #NOEXCUSE six-a-side soccer tournaments
- Champ Camps - 2-day, 2-night personal transformation experiences
- Workshops at schools, colleges or Universities
- Champion Conversations in communities
- Staff training at corporations
- Tavern events

Any donation given to FAN is fully tax deductible and counts towards CSI points on an organisation’s BBBEE scorecard. We issue a Section 18a certificate for any donation over R1000.

We have 4 branches around SA. We engage with volunteers and corporate's to pack balanced nutritional meals which we then distribute to unregistered creches. The ultimate aim is that they are able to develop due to the cost saving and qualify to register with the Department of Social Development. We also support many university students around the country.

Who are Supapele? 
In short, we are a group of what we would call, philanthropist mercenaries, and as our name suggests we believe in helping others to #MoveForward📷 

Our aim?
To assist other charities to reach their goals by getting our team and supporters to either contribute financially or donate their time and skills.

How did we come about? 
Our concept was born when a group of friends wanted to help make a difference, but couldn’t decide where to start. We tried our hand at a couple of projects and finally thought, why just pick ONE? This idea seemed to work well with our supporters who could then also pick and choose which projects they felt closest to and how they wanted to contribute. 

How does it work?
Every couple of months, we meet and decide how we will spend our time and resources for the next quarter. The options include working with the homeless, focusing on children and education, assisting disadvantaged females, spending time at animal shelters… Basically, trying to find any charities that we feel passionate about and that our supporters will enjoy working with!

Initiatives of Change South Africa is an active and registered member of the international Initiatives of Change network, also a registered legal body in South Africa since 1948 with its footprint from the 1920s with the Oxford group.We are non-for-profit organisation and movement,  Our mission: to inspire, equip and connect people. 

We have worked with professional social workers and counsellors, faith-based organisations and churches, Gender Based Violence initiatives, Alternative to Violence (Non-Governmental Organisation) and are now engaging with Pace e Bene, an international peace-building organisation. However, there is lack of focused, holistic inner-healing and trust-building programmes that tackle the transferred generational trauma causing deep divisions in the closest bond of humankind, the parents and child or guardian and child relationship.

WITH INNER HEALING AND TRUST BUILDING INITIATIVES

Homelessness affects everyone, both directly and indirectly. In 2018, StatsSA reported that there are just over 110 000 people who are homeless in Gauteng Province alone. Unbeknown to many, such a high number is tied to alarming levels of poverty and crime. 

An ID is one of the most essential items for any South African Citizen. Imagine not having inclusive access to basic public services, i.e, housing, because you have misplaced an ID and don’t have enough resources to replace it. Well, unfortunately, many homeless people are faced with this. 
This is what inspired the existence of Project ID. We have realized that in solving the above, we simultaneously solve the implications thereof including crime, poverty, and unemployment.

Kudzo Foundation addresses the lack of documentation among homeless/displaced persons in
Johannesburg. PROJECT ID currently focuses on South African citizens in the above bracket. The objective is to unlock opportunities and all possible public services for the beneficiaries and reinstate them into society and productivity.

Our goal is to facilitate ID replacements and the entrepreneurial development/ education/ employment of 3000 people by the end of December 2023.

We have several events during the year but our main event is hosting South Africa’s National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer in September. This is an entirely community-driven project and an amazing event that brings the whole community together for an awesome cause! As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we distribute leaflets with the Early Cancer Warning Signs.

Children of the Dawn has 8 care centers across 5 provinces in South Africa. It's mandate to support it's beneficiaries who stay around these 8 centers is carried through 5 pillars of the organization. Corinthians NPO is a multipurpose safe hub dedicated to social change. As a NPO and a social

development in South Africa. Corinthians NPO uses its four focus areas being Sports , Social
entrepreneurship, education and Community development to establish authentic and impactful
relationships in our community.
We have a sports and recreation facility leased to us by the City of Johannesburg. We use the
two soccer grounds for soccer activities. Furthermore, the clubhouse is used for community and
social entrepreneurship workshops and programs with the aim to develop economic
sustainability and social community transformation.

Family Worship Centre Church (FWC) registered an NPO, the FWC Welfare and Development Centre in 2001.  It was created in response to the inadequate governmental support to the HIV/AIDS proliferation, high unemployment rates, illiteracy and excessive poverty.  FWC has been making positive and impacting changes through active community outreach and participation in Hurst Hill and surrounding areas. 

Today, we have increased our capacity to a building that houses our HPCA accredited 50-bed hospice, with a 3-star rating and a Training and Development Centre.  The property was purchased on auction in 2005 and is owned by FWC Welfare and Development.  We are governed by a group of voluntary board members; we have audited financial statements annually (year end February) and adhere to all statutory requirements.  FWC Welfare and Development is also BEE compliant.

We are involved in many different projects to help combat poverty in Johannesburg.  We combat hunger with monthly free groceries and training underprivileged families how to grow their own veggies to make sure that there are no more hungry tummies!
We help children dream of future careers that break the poverty cycle with children's outreaches, free stationery packs in January and Christmas presents for parents to give to children (as if from themselves) in December.
We help families care for themselves by providing second hand furniture to empty RDP houses/shacks to make sure that children have a place to grow and play safely.
We distribute second hand goods to families that need them and also help with CV Creation to help the unemployed equip themselves to find jobs.
We also are currently looking for funding in order to open our first offices that will include a free clothing store where the public that are unemployed and unable to afford corporate clothing in order to be taken seriously can come and collect a nice outfit to wear and make sure that they can really put their best foot forward in their job search.

As our slogan ‘Developing Lives Is In Our DNA’ says, we strongly believe in the development of township communities by eradicating extreme poverty and closing the gap of inequality. This we do through a holistic approach that will contribute to the betterment of our communities; skills development, healthcare, early childhood development and enterprise and supplier development.

Through our Skills Development we offer various courses in Call Centre, IT and Fashion & Design. At the end of the courses, young people receive certificates for their short courses. Our courses not only give young people theoretical work, but they also have an opportunity to do practical work which assists in preparing them for life after being students. We also offer learnership programmes, which is the best for both worlds – young people get to learn and gain work experience in different career fields. Our sister organisation, Township Fleva assists in giving learnership opportunities.

We believe that healthcare is the backbone of the society, with that we ensure that through our Mobile Clinics and Mini Community Life Centre, community people receive the best quality healthcare services. We started with primary healthcare, focusing on mother and child. Our services have since expanded and we now give services to families. We assist a mother from an antenatal care phase and ensuring that children are immunized and vaccinated to reduce diseases. We also offer dental care services.

Our enterprise and supplier development programme is all about inspiring young people to pursue entrepreneurship as this is the cure to the high unemployment rate we face. We have business hubs that support, train, mentor, coach and offer business resources to entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs we support will then go back to their communities to skill others and create jobs. We also have other projects within the enterprise development programme like the Change The Game Academy where we train other NGOs to be sustainable and help to fundraise for their organisations.

Our early childhood development programme prepares children in disadvantaged communities for primary school, ensuring that children receive quality education and are well developed. We have ECD training courses for teachers and principals in township communities where they gain suitable training to instill knowledge in children.

All our programmes are interlinked. We develop community people from a foundation phase through early childhood development, our healthcare programme ensures the development of the child is properly met hence immunizing and vaccinating of children are of our top priority. The young people in communities join our skills and enterprise development programmes to be skilled and then upskill other young people in their communities.

The Chevrah Kadisha, affectionately known as the “Chev”, is the largest Jewish welfare organisation on the African continent and the oldest in Johannesburg. What started out as a burial society in 1888, has evolved into a full scale welfare organisation caring for the needs of Jews from cradle to grave. The organisation was registered in 2020 operating out of Gauteng with the main focus in training and education of communities on the impact of plastic pollution and how they can participate in saving their own environment from the impact of plastic pollution. Our programs pays special attention to Women and Youth upliftment. The organisation is in the process of constructing a Green school and hopes to replicate this initiative to across the country . This initiative helps to combat global warming, reduce diseases like type 2 diabetes and cancer which are caused by plastic pollution, create jobs in communities by working with waste pickers , women and youth and increase awareness through education and participation in our initiatives.

The purpose of this component is to ensure that vulnerable children have equitable access to primary health care. The secondary purpose is to strengthen primary health care delivery so that it meets special needs of vulnerable children.
There are three important aspects of this component. The first aspect focuses on the waiver of fees at hospitals and health centres so that orphans and other vulnerable children are able to gain access to the minimal healthcare package that is already available at clinic level. The second aspect is that of providing psychosocial support for school going children and particularly those affected by HIV/AIDS and abuse in the communities. The third and last aspect is to strengthen the capacity of caregivers and community development officers on child growth monitoring and promotion.  
The overall goal of the project is to improve access to available basic services and to provide human development opportunities for vulnerable children thereby investing in their ability to become productive members of society.
Specifically, this project seeks to:
• Enhance the physical and psychosocial development of vulnerable children
including orphans by reversing stunting, under-nourishment and poor health;
• Enable vulnerable children including orphans to attain primary and
secondary/high school education;
• Facilitate access to basic health services for vulnerable children.

With a diverse range of expertise, Seriti is well-placed to achieve impact at scale. Seriti’s mission is to help communities and social partners reach
their goals by delivering innovative and comprehensive solutions.

Seriti PARTNER
Seriti PARTNER provides civil society organisations (CSOs), including community-based NPOs, with the necessary technical support to strengthen their contributions to the communities they work with and serve, using a hybrid approach that draws on the experience and best-practice tools used in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. The programme uses a holistic response to address the critical gap that exists in the community development ecosystem, around the sustainability and capacity of CSOs to help them properly manage their projects and programmes. The goal is to systemically improve how CSOs function and engage with one another, as well as to provide a network through which CSOs speak with one voice on priority issues.

Project management services use a methodology informed by design thinking and systems approaches. Each intervention is framed as a unique programme with specific results, performance targets and a clear budget, and is aligned to the local development ecosystem and network of relevant social partners. The initiative’s name highlights working, learning, and growing together in support of sustainable agricultural opportunities. It enables enterprise development opportunities through participatory practical and experiential learning in communitybased agriculture, designed to strengthen local participation and skills.

ISO is an HIV and GBVF prevention organisation and registered NPO with a PBO status that uses Capacity, Dialogue, Reflection and Action (CDRA) as their methodology to create a meaningful impact to marginalized communities in the City of Johannesburg. 

ISO focuses on empowering Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM), including their caregivers, through offering an integrated package of services to ensure that they have access to quality health care services, build their knowledge and self-efficacy.  

Our methodology ensures that our beneficiaries are capacitated through evidence based interventions that will allow for interaction through dialogues, reflective introspection and the ability to act.  

HIV and GBVF Prevention is the core of ISO’s programming for AGYW and ABYM and their caregivers. This extends to AGYW’s ability to access non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health services and exercise their rights, break gender conforming and stereotypes, ART uptake and adherence, and combination HIV prevention approach.  As part of our strategy to drive social cohesion, ISO will not leave the ABYM behind. In order prevent GBVF, ISO implements an ABYM programme which aims to mentor and coach participants in become champions of change.

Our CDRA methodology, as an impact tool for Social and Behavioural Change, which aligns with the DREAMS programme in ensuring the family are strengthened and are able to parent positively.

We provide six programs that cater to the development of the youth in Kliptown and surrounding communities. Education program: All children from Grade 1 through Grade 12 attend tutoring and study sessions for two hours, Monday through Thursday afternoons.  The focus is on English and maths, as well as homework assistance. Technology Program: Through programs such as Reading Eggs, Math Seeds, Olico, MyCyberwall, and 2Enable, our members can boost their skills with well-designed lessons and quizzes that give them practice and get instant feedback. 
Food & Nutrition: One of the struggles of life in Kliptown is inadequate nutrition for growing young bodies, with many children sometimes not having access to even one balanced meal per day.  Because young people cannot learn effectively if they are hungry, KYP provides all members with two nutritious meals a day.  In the morning, the children can eat breakfast or get a bag lunch to take to school, and then fuel up with a hot meal before digging into their tutoring and other KYP activities. Psychosocial program: At KYP we have established a support centre for members of the KYP program and their families where they can seek the advice of counsellors in a safe, confidential environment.  Vocational development program: As they graduate from university, college, or high school, KYP members seek to enter the job market, the final hurdle they must pass in their journey to pull themselves up from poverty. The Topsy Foundation is a registered Not-For-Profit Company. We are a relatively small NPO in terms of reputation despite having a significant reach (supporting 14,000 adults and children) in one of the poorest parts of South Africa with a very high unemployment rate.
We are serving in the rural communities of the sub-district of Dipaleseng Local Municipality in the most southern part of Mpumalanga (only one hour and fifteen minutes from the north of JHB) for the past 21 years, also for the last 3 years started serving the community at the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality, both situated in the Gert Sibande District Municipality, head office in Bryanston.

We employ 43 staff members of which 36 are fieldworkers, 95% of them are female and 85% come from the surrounding communities. We are one of the very few employers in the areas. 

We focus on young children under 6 years of age as research indicates that investment during these early formatives years brings the most return in terms of more educational and prosperous adults’ population in later years.
By ensuring that the 4,000 children in our Early Child Development Centres get a package of essential early services, we can help to provide them with more equal start to life. 
We also focus on the well-being of the community, particularly vulnerable woman.
The Topsy Health, pharmacy, medical suite, and community vegetable gardens are situated in Grootvlei. It is ideally situated to easily serve and be accessible to the surrounding communities.

Lejwe La Thuso meaning ‘Stone of Help’ was founded during November 2010 by both Mr. R.L. Molete and Mrs. S.E. Molete and full operation of the project started in April 2011. The organization was registered with the registrar of Non-Profit Organizations on 03 September 2012.

Lejwe La Thuso Community Services is a NPO based in Dobsonville.  It was established when the founders saw the level of poverty in and around our community and in the squatter camps especially now when there are so many child headed households due to the AIDS epidemic.
Our organization is community driven and is built by people who thrive on service of the community and the underprivileged. STRATEGIC PLANNING
Initially we expect to be able to handle our beneficiaries’ needs with Fifteen (15) Field Workers; Two (2) Administrators, One (1) Public Relations Officer and Two (2) Kitchen Service Personnel (Caterers). As the organization continues to grow, we intend to hire additional staff one at a time to keep up with the demand.
Not only will we train our employees to deliver excellent service, we will give them the flexibility to respond creatively to beneficiaries’ needs. In addition, we will continually monitor our beneficiaries’ level of satisfaction with our service through surveys and other convenient feedback opportunities.
To ensure our personnel are meeting our expectations, we will hold a minimum of quarterly meetings with all employees so that results can be reviewed and future plans can be discussed. At least twice a year, a refresher course will be required on product knowledge and how to exceed our beneficiaries’ expectations.

Africa Food for Thought (AFFT). AFFT is a non-profit organization (NPO: 045/928), run largely by volunteers, and is focused on equipping and supplying those who are feeding children in need. We partner with schools, preschools, aftercare centers, and individual households.  Our aim is to help those who need it the most:  the vulnerable and marginalized.  We have been registered with SARS as a tax-exempt public benefit organisation in terms of section 30 of the Income Tax Act (PBO 930024731).  Currently, about 92% of the children who benefit from our various programmes are black South Africans, though this is not a stipulation of whom we help. 

We currently support fifteen school feeding projects, two community projects, thirty one crèches and eighty five orphaned and vulnerable (OVC) households where parents are incapacitated, absent or are looking after children other than their own.  In total, we feed approximately seventeen thousand children.  Whilst we equip and supply the projects with utensils, cooking equipment and food to supplement the Government feeding scheme (where it runs), it is the parents and community volunteers who run the project, do the cooking and serving.  In this way, we encourage schools and communities to own the project.  We believe in empowering people and communities rather than creating a spirit of dependency.  The food we supply enables children to have a more balanced diet than if they were dependent on the government scheme alone – which rarely supplies enough for all the children who need assistance in nutrition. 

During our work with the schools, it came to our attention that whilst all the children come from disadvantaged and impoverished backgrounds, some of the children were particularly vulnerable, often orphaned by the AIDs epidemic and living in child-headed households.  These children are often not receiving any grant or aid from the government, sometimes through ignorance, sometimes through fear of being institutionalized, and sometimes through lack of documentation (birth certificates etc.)  These 80 households receive monthly food parcels.  These parcels generally contain the basic staples required for nutritional survival, although we do try to include items for personal hygiene, clothing, bedding etc.  

As some of the children we support finish high school we are looking for ways to help them to become more employable. The Peter France Bursary Fund provides support for students in tertiary education, whether that is through university or a skills development course, in order to help our families to become self-sustaining.

The support centre for children, youth and women in informal settlements is a registered NPO T/A (PCHS) PND Centre for homework and study in informal settlement. The organisation was founded in 2016, it mainly seeks to provide socio-economic and educational support. It seeks to help children to among other things, study their way out of poverty and use sport not only as a social activity but also as a professional activity. Our vision is to be influential in breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty, affecting, children, youth and women in informal settlements. Our mission is to fight poverty, promote sports, promote a positive attitude towards school, achieve gender equality & social cohesion and eradicate food insecurity in informal settlements. 
Our centre provides a place, space and time for children living in informal settlements to do schoolwork, after school, on weekends and during school holidays and we help the local youth and women to start sustainable economic livelihood programmes. We promote equal access and increased participation of girls, youth and women in sporting activities. Our kitchen provides children with cooked food and take-home rations from time to time.

We empower young women to become the best version of themselves. We do this by making use of a mentoring programme that focuses on Beauty, Social and Career as the 3 main pillars of the mentorship programme. The programme is achieved by frequently having talk sessions with the girls that joined the programme. Girls that are part of the mentoring programme are usually from both primary and secondary schools. We also invite guest speakers to come and further motivate the young women and share any experiences about their lives. 

On the other hand apart from the mentoring programme, we have an annual toiletry drive, whereby we invite members of the community, business owners and companies to donate to the toiletry drive, the toiletries then get to be distributed to the young women who are part of The Beauty I Own. 

We also have the Donate a Dream dress campaign where we also invite individuals to donate dresses, shoes, purses and many more items to help make a matric dance night go smoothly. The items can be both donated and borrowed to the organization which will then be distributed to the young women who need them for their matric dance night.

Hippo Roller has changed millions of lives with appropriate technology in water-stressed communities by improving access to water with a device used to carry 90L of water more easily and efficiently than traditional methods. The Hippo Roller is a necessary tool for communities without water infrastructure to help protect their health and improve their hygiene through improved access to water, 90-litres at a time providing a flexible, mobile infrastructure to access multiple water points depending on availability. Lack of access to clean drinking water is one of the greatest causes of poverty in Africa.
