Minerva’s vision & mission:

Minerva vision is to stay true to the values of our house by promoting growth, balance, kindness, proactivity and respect in every aspect of our residence life. In doing so creating a thriving community wherein each Minervianer can find belonging and an opportunity to be their true selves. Our mission is to work towards and inspire, on the basis of our values - growth, balance, respect, kindness and proactivity - a vibrant and thriving community where each Minervianer feels celebrated.

What are we currently doing?

1. After School Program: High school learners in township schools need as much help as they can get from the public because their schools lack resources which leads to a lack of skills such as computer skills and most teachers in township schools do not care about the lack of resources and the high failure rate and we as Minerva, want to help where we can by tutoring these high school learners and helping them with tertiary school applications and bursary applications. We, as Minerva, plan to start with the after-school program as soon as our academic year starts and throughout the year.
2. Sandwich Drive: We as Minerva want to highlight the importance of food security by helping homeless people through the sandwich drive project and we believe projects like the sandwich drive are projects that aim to combat food insecurity in our communities.
3. Beach Clean-Up: The beach clean-up will be done in collaboration with the Minerva sustainability committee and it aims to bring awareness about sustainability through practical ways.

What else can you do?

Community service has been an integral part of Stellenbosch University (SUN) for decades albeit in different forms and with shifting emphasis. This platform allows you to make social impact within the university's (7) CSI themes. Click on the links on the themes below to get involved in volunteering and donating opportunities of your choice.
