Help The Homestead with 35 volunteers for our youth this Mandela Month and beyond
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Volunteer your time and sponsor the activity! Our Mandela Day opportunities are designed to create a meaningful experience for both volunteers and our children and youth. We therefore ask volunteer groups to provide the materials, food items or supplies required for the activity they choose. This ensures that every contribution has a lasting impact and that your team can see the difference you have made. Here are some 67 themed activities that you can assist us with this Mandela Month: 67 Food Parcels - Donate non-perishable food items that can provide a Homestead child and their family with something to eat. 67 Blankets - Donate blankets to keep our children warm this winter. 67 Hygiene and Dignity Packs - put together toiletry packs for children in need. 67 Hoodies - Donate hoodies/beanies/socks to keep our children cosy this winter. 67 lunch packs - make sandwiches, hot dogs, goodie bags with some healthy snacks for children. Simply select the activity that most aligns with you and rally the support of your networks, families and friends to create lasting impact with your 67 minutes! Together, we can turn compassion into action. Together, we can restore hope. Once you have gathered your goodies you can drop off at our head office: 150 Strand Street Dewaterkant. Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
