Help The Homestead with 10 volunteers for Mandela Day with The Bridge Khayelitsha CYCC
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
The Bridge CYCC plans to focus on wellness this Mandela Day by hosting an energetic activity for 67 minutes, whereby volunteers can facilitate a few aerobic activities for the boys and the staff. They will need some healthy snacks for participants and a light meal for everyone after the session if you are not able to join in person but would still like to make a contribution. A donation of some fruit and a light meal of something like hot dogs and juice for 65 children and 25 staff members would be greatly appreciated. This Mandela Month a simple donation can mean: • A child goes to bed with a full stomach. • A learner receives support to stay in school. • A young person finds safety instead of sleeping on the street. • A family receives help before reaching crisis point. We thank you for your valued support! For further queries please contact: 021 419 9763 or email info@thehomestead.org.za

Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
