Thursday, we received a message from a colony caregiver in Kinross about an injured stray cat hiding behind a JoJo tank. At first, it was suspected that he had been hit by a car. Once trapped and taken to Evander Dierekliniek, the truth was heartbreaking. This young tomcat was not hit by a vehicle. He had severe bite wounds that turned septic. Infection had spread through his little body, with pus draining from his feet already 😔 This is often the reality when people encourage others to “just get a dog to deal with the cats.” Cats do not simply disappear. They suffer. They get chased, attacked, torn apart, and left in agony. Behind every “solution” like that is an animal feeling fear and pain. The kindest thing we could do was let him go peacefully and free him from his suffering. Rest easy, little boy 💔
