Feral cats survive with only what they have. Sometimes they are noticed by chance, and someone hopes they can make life a little better for them. Very few people know that there are humane traps like the ones we use for TNR, and many try catching cats by hand themselves… difficult, but done with good intentions. This cat is already a senior. When she was trapped on Sunday for sterilisation, we all believed she was a large male because of how “well-fed” she appeared, and the colony caregiver thought the same. But she was not a male at all — she was an elderly female suffering from pyometra, which explained the “weight”. Monday’s TNR saved her life. With the colony caregiver relocating soon, we had to make a few decisions based on what was in front of us. She will now retire at the “old age home”, where she can be safe, loved, and cared for until it is her time to go 🐾
