She was just a little kitten who suddenly appeared at the Sasol plant. She didn't even look like she belonged to that colony. Someone took her there and left her behind, and we believe they knew exactly what they were doing. Shame on you. How did you sleep that night. For days she suffered. By the time we managed to catch her, the diarrhoea had caused horrific burns. The acid had literally eaten away at parts of her hind legs and rectum. I cannot stop wondering how someone could leave her there in that condition and then go home and sleep at night. At first she seemed feral. She was scared, defensive and didn't trust anyone. But it didn't take long to realise she wasn't feral at all. She was just frightened and trying to survive. The moment she realised she was safe, she soaked up every bit of love and attention she could get. She gave so much affection in return. Her wounds were treated, her diarrhoea was treated, and for a short while she got to experience what every kitten deserves: kindness, comfort and love. Unfortunately, life had other plans for her. Today, while being held and loved, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts is broken. Not only because we lost her, but because she should never have had to suffer the way she did in the first place. She deserved a chance. She deserved a future. The only comfort is knowing that her last days were not filled with pain, fear and abandonment. They were filled with warmth, care and people who loved her. Fly high, little one. You mattered. You were loved. And you will never be forgotten. 🌈🐾💔
