Love. Passion. Perseverance. Respect. Sisterhood.

Equité's vision & mission:

Equité is a platform for generations of strong, capable individuals who are provided with opportunities for personal development, self-expression and mutual growth. We foster an environment that encourages unity while respecting one’s individuality. We strive for our members to feel empowered and supported through the co-curricular experience.

What are we currently doing?

Equité held a stationery drive during welcoming. We asked students to bring new or good quality stationery that MGD and the Disaster Unit can distribute to communities that cannot afford to buy stationery for school.

Equité held a mini Easter drive for less fortunate children. We asked the members of Equité to donate some Easter eggs over the course of three days. Not all children have the privilege to get spoiled by the Easter bunny. This drive was held to make Easter a little bit more fun. We hope that this small contribution made an impact on the community. We thank the Disaster Unit for fetching and distributing our donations.

Equité also donated sanitary pads for students and women that do not have the money to afford this necessity. A shortage of sanitary pads in less fortunate areas is still a big problem, thus we’ll have another drive in the year. We thank Eendrag for making a big donation to us and thanks to the Disaster Unit that distributed the sanitary pads.

  1. Love to Give: Love to Give helps families in Kaymandi that live beneath the breadline. As a PSO will help Love to Give throughout the year by making donations regularly. The idea is to donate a few goods every month to help the organisation help more families.
  2. AWSS Animal Shelter: The animal shelter needs help throughout the year. Equité will offer our help to walk the dogs, collect dog resources (foods, blankets and toys) and also help at fundraisers or adoption day. A date for this project will be chosen throughout the year.
  3. Heartlands Baby Sanctuary: The PSO will launch a project where students can donate some of these groceries or resources.
  4. River Clean Up: PSO students will go to clean up the Stellenbosch river. The river ends up with a lot of rubbish, cigarette buds, chips packets, etc. There is no specific date for this project, but the best will be a day after an event (for example Vensters) or any other day. This project slots in with the theme of environment and sustainability.
  5. Pad Drive: Students of Equité (as well as any other residence or PSO) will be asked to buy 1 or more packets of pads and donate them in a bin at the amaMaties hub. The pads will be donated to a school in need. A few sanitary products will also be purchased by the PSO to help ladies within our PSO.
