Love. Dignity. Purpose. Critically Engaged. Individuality.

Olypmus' vision & mission:

Olympus aligns itself with the University’s goal to produce well-rounded students, to enable our members to be their optimal selves. We use our values as our guide to ensure members learn to be independent and well versed in the cultural diversity in our country, as well as on campus.

What are we currently doing?

Focus on four main projects, one per term. In an alternating order, two projects will be aimed at student and campus issues that our members and other students face.

  1. Compassion Sandwiches: This project was chosen due to our current pandemic which has caused a large economical loss and, in the process, increased poverty and job loss. The pandemic has also led to a sense of tension and restlessness within communities. Many people no longer want to encounter others, meaning homeless people are struggling to find citizens willing to donate money or food, for the fear of contracting the virus. This project aims to make sandwiches which we will then donate to homeless shelters to help feed those in need. The logistics of the project will be decided closer to the time as current regulations and rules are always changing.
  2. Disability Awareness Project: When walking on campus, the construction of a new building often causes students to deter from their normal path and find alternative routes to classes. This led me to wonder how disabled students cope with sudden changes and whether the very building being built has sufficient wheel-chair access. There are a large range of disabilities and so we hope that by accessing the provisions provided and speaking up about instances where no provisions are made, we can encourage a more integrated and inclusive campus life.

Our goal would be to make others more knowledgeable of the very difficulties some of our fellow students struggle with and to try and assist in the easing of hurdles they face every day, i.e. try have the university improve wheel-chair access, have more courses available to the blind by printing more textbooks in brail , etc.
