The Ernest Foundation is seeking a dedicated and experienced HR Officer volunteer to help us establish and maintain effective human resources practices for our growing team of staff and volunteers in Orange Farm, South Africa. This role is crucial for ensuring a supportive, compliant, and thriving environment for everyone involved in our mission. As an HR Officer, you will play a key role in: Policy Development: Assisting in drafting and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with best practices and local labor laws. Recruitment Support: Helping with the development of job descriptions, screening applications, and coordinating interviews for new staff and key volunteer roles. Onboarding & Orientation: Supporting the seamless integration of new team members, ensuring they have the necessary information and resources. Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and confidential HR records for staff and volunteers. Compliance & Best Practices: Advising on HR-related compliance matters and helping to foster a positive and productive work environment. Volunteer Management Support: Collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator to enhance the overall volunteer experience. We are looking for someone who possesses: Experience in Human Resources management or related fields. Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and (ideally) South African labor law. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion. Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace). A genuine passion for community development and empowering vulnerable individuals. Ability to commit to a regular schedule (e.g., a few hours per week/month).
